A trip to the Taj Mahal during summersLast Sunday (April 27th, 2008) some of my relatives came to visit us in Delhi and I decided to take them to visit the Taj Mahal in Agra. We drove all the way, it is around 200km from Delhi and it took us around 4 hours to reach there. You are supposed to take your shoes off when you start to climb the steps for the Taj Mahal. Now we did not realize that the marble floor could have become so hot under the sun. It was burning the bottom of my feet. Believe me it was very painful. We all started running towards the shade and when we reached it, it seemed like eternity. (The picture of the Taj Mahal on the left was taken by me on the same day)

Last year September, me and my maa (mummy) went to Kolkata. We took the Friday Rajdhani that goes via Patna - so the journey was longer and the site seeing was also different from the normal route that we take i.e. via Gaya.

Site seeing was beautiful with many rivers mendering through the paddy field or hilly area. It was night when we crossed Uttar Pradesh but saw river Ganga at Allahabad. It was huge - lamp post were there on the river bank so it was possible to see it but obviously not clear. [Note: Can see the river Ganga just after leaving the Allahabad station - within a minute or two]

When entered the Howarh station, it started to rain but stopped for a while untill we reached our mama's house (maternal uncle).
