Angels and fairies are mythical beings and have a prominent place in ancient mythology and religion. Fairies are supposed to be from the spirit world with magical powers. They resemble humans in appearance and are depicted in folklore as a species completely independent of humans. They are supposed to be from a different world altogether. Fairies have their origin in folklores of course and many folktales depict them as characters in stories with magical powers. Modern culture depicts fairies as young, very often winged and of small stature flying around trees and ponds with magical wands in their hands. This is actually quite contrary to how they were perceived in the medieval times. The origin of fairies varies across cultures. Some believe them to be dead or a sub class of the dead; some view them as intelligent species distinct from humans and angels; some are of the view that they are demoted angels. Images of fairies have been very popular and appear as illustrations in fairy tales and on photographic based media. The Victorian era is known for fairy paintings.
Angels, no doubt, find their origins in various religions or the world and are seen as messengers of God. They are thought of as spiritual beings and are often depicted with wings. The classical notion of angels depicts them as humans with wings, extraordinarily beautiful or radiant human beings. A recent study among the age group of 13-17 showed that a staggering 64% believed in angels.
